Bintan SpaVilla Resort: 25th Birthday Getaway 2018

For my 25th birthday, my wish was to celebrate it away from the hussle and bussle of work and 'reality' in Singapore. I decided to take a break from work for a short getaway at a secluded spot in Bintan. Being a quarter century old, I can feel the age catching up.

I love how Bintan was a convenient and a fuss-free break from reality. Two years ago, we had a great time at The Canopy Resort and this time, due to limited budget and time to plan another proper vacation, we decided to book a 3D2N stay at Bintan SpaVilla Resort.

This resort, unlike the more touristy/ commercialised ones in Bintan, was 1) way cheaper, 2) other end of the island 3) and therefore more secluded and peaceful.

The amenities were general clean and comfortable but slightly old. The
swimming pool which was quite dirty, maybe the water filters were not working well or because it was raining earlier in the day. Other amenities which we enjoyed/ saw:

• Pool
• Table Soccer
• Hammock
• Beach chairs
• Unlimited Karaoke at the bar with any purchase of drink (was not open at time of visit)
• Free movie/ World Cup screening 
• Kayaking (additional fee)
• Snorkelling (additional fee)
• Standup Paddle Boarding (additional fee)
• Day trips to Mangrove Swamp, Kelong, Fire-flies watching (additional fee)

Food options were surprisingly huge, and tasted good and price was reasonable...still considered expensive for Indonesian standard.

Overall verdict, if you are looking for a cheap, simple, peaceful getaway, this might be a good option for you. However, if you are looking for a more luxurious staycation and with fun-filled activities within a resort, you should consider other more established brands in the area.
