Taipei Solo Trip: DAY 2 (Fu Hang Dou Jiang 阜杭豆漿/Taipei 101/Elephant Mountain 象山/Raohe Street Market 饶河街观光夜市)

Since this is a throwback post from almost a year ago (September 2017), I will only highlight the memorable key aspects of my trip.. probably aspects that are worth remembering after one year.

Day 2:
1. Fu Hang Dou Jiang 阜杭豆漿

Location: Shandao Temple MRT Station (捷运善导寺站), Hua Shan Market Level 2

Okay, please be early for this one. As everyone that previously visited this place warned me, I am going to repeat again, the queue is INSANE. The queue snaked around the parameter of the building's ground floor (barricade set up and lots of tourists, you wont miss it), up the stairs and into the second floor where the store is. As the name suggests, this stall sells basically the traditional Chinese breakfast that you can think of, i.e. soybean, beancurd, fried dough fritters (油条You Tiao), Jian Bing etc. I was surprised that the store was located in a foodcourt with other food stalls available and shared dining facilities. Thankfully, it was air-conditioned.

Okay, I over killed during the ordering... but how not to when everything on the menu sounds delicious right? Obviously I could not finish everything, but at least I got a taste of the different variety:

1. Egg Pancake (Right)
2. Salted Beancurd (Centre)
3. Thin Shao Bing with Egg and Fried Dough Fritters 薄燒饼夹蛋 (Left) - Personal favourite!

Breakfast for one

2. Taipei 101
Location: MRT to the City Hall Station (市政府). From there, we took the free shuttle from the MRT station to Taipei 101.

Second time in Taipei, but actually my first time going up the Taipei 101. As it was a solo trip, I could spend as long as I like up there. Free wifi FTW. Felt an immense sense of liberation being at the top of the world, alone.

3. Elephant Mountain Hike trail 象山

Location: Xiang Shan Station MRT Red Line, Exit 2 and continue straight down the street following the park on your left hand side→ Lane150 turn left, walk straight.

Really worth a visit, view was sick up at the peak:) However, beware of mosquitoes during the hot summer season. I unknowingly became a feast for the mosquitoes while waiting for the sunset at the peak.

4. Raohe Street Market 饶河街观光夜市

After burning off the calories at Xiang Shan, it was time to refuel at Taipei's famous night market, 饶河街观光夜市~

Location: Take the Green Line 3 to the terminal station Songshan (松山), exit 5. The night market entrance is just to the right across the street next to the temple.

Specialty here: Fu Zhou Shi Zu Pepper Buns州世祖胡椒饼 - this is located right at the entrance of the night market, confirm cannot miss the store.
