Pohang Day 4: Guryangpo Port/ Homigot/ Jukdo Fish Market

From Gyeongju to Pohang, the bus arrived every 10 minutes and the journey was around 35mins.

Right outside Pohang Express Bus Terminal, we headed to the Tourist Information Centre for a city map. We did not have a clear itinerary in mind and the lady was so eager to introduce us to all the attractions:)

Took bus 200 and alighted at Guryongpo (구룡포), where we saw many real fishermen boats.

These were squid fishing boats, probably setting off at night due to the number of light bulbs!

As the transfer bus 203 to Homigot was an hour away, we decided to eat seafood (the only thing available in Pohang!) for lunch. There was a whole stretch of seafood restaurants so we had a hard time choosing!

Despite the hot weather, the 매운탕 was great! Such a rare chance to eat fish in Korea! Octopus side dish was also mouthwatering:)

The bus stop at Homigot looked as if it was out of nowhere! We were all asleep, luckily the bus driver called loud enough hahaha!

The renowned Hands of Harmony symbolised Koreans persevering efforts to improve quality of life. Homigot Beach is the place where the sunrise can be first seen all around Korea, hence extremely popular destination for watching sunrise on New Year's Day.

But of course, we are too lazy for sunrises!:)

Homigot Lighthouse, known for its outstanding architectural properties even had a National Lighthouse Museum beside, which we did not visit.

Road side store where kids could play games and win malt candy of varying shapes!

(Wheat?) field behind the bus stop. So surreal for an urban rat like me!

Took the bus back and walked towards the Pohang cruise area, which felt like Marina Barrage to me for some reason.

As we were lazy to look for directions, we cabbed to Jukdo Fish Market (포항 죽도시장) since we had three people:)

Fascinating tourist like me snapping photos instead of choosing what to eat!:)

The place was already filled with dinner crowd and we had seafood again! YAY! Had problem reading the menu, hence googling everything!

Life octopus! Reminded me of Busan Jagalchi Fish Market:) Best dipped in  oil with salt.

This marks the end of my 5D4N Gyeongju/ Pohang trip! Don't forget to buy their famous Gyeongju Bread and Barley bread!
