Korean D2 Student Visa Application

Went to apply for student visa at Republic of Korea Embassy with gen and hiang ngee today. Student visa is needed when period of stay is longer than 3 months.

The location of the embassy is just two blocks down Newton Mrt Station, Exit A, 16th floor for visa application (not the 8th, website). The service hours for visa application is from 9.30 to 11.30am. Waited about half an hour for our turn.

They had a photocopy machine there, free-of-charge. However, the photocopy machine was on the verge of breaking down so it was kind of scary. Be sure to have good temper when over at the embassy:) I would say that the staff at the embassy are not the most friendly people you will meet.

Anyway, there are two types of student visa :
1. Single trip ($76)
2. Multi-way ($114): can leave and re-enter South Korea

Items required for D2 Study Abroad Visa Application:

1. Passport (original + photocopy)
2. Complete Visa application form (downloaded from here)
3. One passport size photo
4. Bank Statement (original+ photocopy)
5. Ic of bank account holder (photocopy)
5. 3-months transaction record of that bank account (passbook record+ photocopy)
6. Birth Certificate (original + photocopy)
7. Certificate of Admission (CoA) from SEP university (original + photocopy)
8. Letter from your uni that you are their student/ Student Status Letter

Try to make sure they do not take away the original copies of your Bank Statement and Certificate of Admission as it might be needed by Korea University administrative side.

Also, they will take away your passport and give you a slip to collect your visa and passport in 4 working days time.
